Serial Number
A serial number is a unique number assigned for by a fixed discrete integer value. Common usage has expanded the term to refer to any unique alphanumeric identifier for one of a large set of objects, however not every numerical identifier is a serial number; identifying numbers which are not serial numbers are sometimes called nominal numbers. In data processing and allied fields in computer science, the difference between serial and nominal numbers is very important.
Serial numbers are valuable in quality control, once a problem is found in the production of a particular batch of product; the serial number will quickly identify which units are affected. Serial numbers are also used as an important factor against theft and counterfeit products in that serial numbers can be recorded and stolen or otherwise irregular goods can be identified.
Many computer programs come with serial numbers, often called "Compact Disc keys", and the installers often require the user to enter a valid serial number to continue. These numbers are verified using a certain algorithm to avoid usage of counterfeit keys.
In computer science, and related subjects, an algorithm is an effective method for solving a problem using a finite sequence of instructions. Algorithms are used for calculation, data processing, and many other fields.
Warranty A warranty is a guarantee that certain facets of an article or service sold is as factually stated or legally implied by the seller, and that often provides for a specific remedy such as repair or replacement in the event the article or service fails to meet the warranty. A breach of warranty occurs when the promise is broken, i.e., a product is defective or not as should be expected by a reasonable buyer.
In real estate transactions, warranty deed is a promise that the buyer's title to a parcel of land will be defended. In my own word a warranty guarantees you that in the event of the item not keeping up to its standard, theft or being damaged you will be able to return and replace within a certain time.
Copyright Agreement Copyright agreement is the set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work. Copyright lasts for a certain time after which the work is said to enter the public domain. Some jurisdictions also recognize "moral rights" of the creator of a work, such as the right to be credited for the work.
